By Doris Ward BURLEIGH - Cupid’s Valentine arrow struck early this year for a young Burleigh couple. Childless since their marriage six years ago, James and Roxanne Dunkleberger recently became the happy parents of an 11-pound, 12-ounce baby girl, adopted from an agency in Seoul. Korea. Suffering slightly fi-om “jet lag" after a 24-hour plane ride, three-month-old Lauren-Kim was among four other youngsters who were met at Kennedy International Airport in New York by their Americaiv parents who had waited seven hours for the overdue airliner. The event was the culmination of a dream planned when the couple realized they were unable to have their own baby. DISCOURAGED by long waiting lisIs and the costs of adoption in this country, the couple applied to an intcrnational childrens center and were recently informed they were eligible to adopt Lauren-Kim Changing diapers and bottle feeding is second nature to Mrs. Dunkleberger, a nurse at Burdette Tomlin Hospital in Cape May Court House where she spent three years working in the maternity ward. She has taken a leave of absence from her profession to care for the baby. Mrs. Dunkleberger's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Wilson L. Rea of Dias Creek, delayed a trip to Florida to welcome their new grandchild while Dunkleberger's mother, Mary Ann Eckert of Burleigh, stops by frequently to watch LaurenKim’s dally progress.

Tax Refund Bill Opposed

STONE HARBOR - A resolution objecting to Senate bill S-1284 was passed by mayor and council. This bill' would present many problems for the tax assessor and collector. In its present form it would provide that real property which is destroyed at any time shall be reassessed as of the date of the loss by the tax assessor with the tax collector calculating the amount of taxes to be refunded to the property owner for the current tax year. IN OBJECTING to this proposed bill it was pointed out that these losses were more often temporary than permanent and quickly corrected. Another problem would be the proration of the dollar loss in value where a not too recent assessment compared with the Current dollar casualty loss.
