'Jew's Notes from-
Seven Mile Beach M'Elien Rowland thB-229*l
Wednesday, Feb. 9, was a sad day for members of the Stone Harbor Seniors. They learned that two of their members had died that day. Marion Scarlett, wife of Paul F., Scarlett of 256 85th St., mother of Ann Jordan and Paula KenWor-^ thy and very proud grand mother of five, died while visiting one of her daughers in Tcnnessee v She and her husband worked as a team of volunteers for many years at Burdette Tomlin. They have always been very ’ active in the Seniors as well. During the regular Wednesday night meeting of the Seniors at S.H. Elementary School the phone could be heard ringing for what seemed like hours We all became apprehensive but naturally the principal’s office is locked. A short tilde later Andrew Woolery arrived to tell us that we had lost another member. Helen Morris, wife of Arnold Mor-
ris of 136 90th St. Helen died suddenly of a massive heart attack while she and Amie were wintering in Boca Raton, Fla. with many of their friends. BOB WILSON. 10809 Sunset Dr, Chairman of Stone Harbor’s Zoning Board of Adjustment and Program Director of the Chamber of Commerce, has announced that William Diedcrich. Cape May County’s Director oj Consumer Affairs will be principal speaker at the Feb. 21 dinner meeting of the Chamber in Henny’s Driftwood Dining Room at 9628 3rd Ave. Diederich’s speech should prove interesting to area residents and property owners. For reservations call Pat Fitzpatrick: 368-1792. We stopped to check out Talisman Jewelers, 212 98th St. when we saw their advertisement of a 50 percent off sale for Valentine’s Day. It is right around the corner from the William
Ris Galleries and the first thing that caught our eye upon entering was a water color of The Pink House in Cape May by Sandra Giangiulio. Lisa Boheler and Ron Lucas are owners of the new store, which opened Oct. 2. They previously had a shop in Carson City. Nev. but Uiey’ll be open year round here now. Lisa is a dietition five days a week at Burdette Tomlin Memorial. Blonde, 6’5” Ron. originally from Austria, is the craftsman and displays his own work with pride as well as the tiny charms in silver and gold set with previous stones he imports from Bali and Indonesia Ron stresses the fact that they sell no costume jewelry and demonstrates how easy it is to start a valuable collection by pur chasing a thin gold necklace and adding a single gold or silver bead at a time. It struck us that these would make neat starter collections for grandchildren or Godchildren. LIKE MOST area residents we felt a deep sense of personal loss when we learned Avalon Mayor
Ellsworth P. Armacost will retire Always a gentleman, a public spirited citizen, and above all; a philanthropic man. Ellsworth Armacost examplified a dedicated public servant He and his beloved late wife. Marion Armacost, who initiated the "Save the Turtle" na tional campaign to save an endangered species, gave of themselves at all times to enhance the image of Avalon as a familyoriented community The mayor will remain in office until July 1. After that date his dignity, his innatc kindness and generosity to tiis chosen community will be sorely missed WE WENT to a perfect dinner party at Scott and Alice Daniels’ home on 95th St the other night It was our favorite kind — a sitdown dinndr for eight preceded by yummy hors d’oevres This reporter is famous for lack of appetite but surprised her spouse for eating everything including the Peach Melba dessert. lf\»Alice had catered a meal to our taste she couldn't have made a better job of it. We have been to the Daniels' before
