According to John Kegg. chief of the Bureau of En tofnojogy, Department of Agriculture, the state has a commitment from the federal government for about 50 percent reimbursement to municipalities that follow state recommendations. This year the department has recommended any residential area that has more than 10 homes in 50 acres, and contains Gypsy Moth populations exceeding 500 egg masses per acre are to be recommended for spraying The Department of Agriculture has set up three regional meetings for discussing the 1983 Gypsy Moth Control Program The South Jersey meeting for municipal representatives of Atlantic, Camden. Larry Newbold, Cape May County Agricultural Agent, said maps of the proposed spray blocks would be presented to the township representatives at the meeting These meetings are primarily for municipal representatives but are open to the public Township representatives have already received preliminary maps of the 1983 spray areas. Anyone concerned about the spray program should inspect the maps, which are available in the
township of borough halls. Newbold said that most townships will be expanding the spray programs and will do additional acreage over and above those designated by the
state. Area residents who need further clarification about the program cart call John Kegg, Chief of the Bureau of Entomology. N.J. Department of Agriculture, at 609-292-5440
