CAPE MAY - Roth's Candyland, undefeated during the regular women’s volleyball season, went into the championship final against Needlcrs III in a best of five series. Roth’s took the first game easily enough, but then Needlcrs made a comeback and handed Roth’s Stand Off In Hockey CAPE MAY — In a tough youth hockey match between Dellas Stores and the C-View Inn of the junior league, each team held the other scoreless, as both goalies (Chris Corbett and Karl Hughes) stopped numerous shots. Kellie's News managed a victory over the first place Fire Co. team in a 2-1 conquest. Matt Knotch and John DeCamillo'performed well to win the game for Keltic's In senior league play, Dellas Stores outdid CView Inn 4 2 despite the efforts and goals of C-View's John Becker and Jim McBride. Wrestlers Show Well In Tourney COURT HOUSE - Five area youths won trophies in their respective weight classes at the 12th Annual Association for the Promotion of Wrestling in South Jersey Tournament at Vineland Senior High School Feb. 20. Wrestling for Middle Township Recreation, the trophy winners including Brian Bianco, third place bantan 45 pound; Danny Spindler, third place midget 62.5 pound; Jerome Licata, second place midget heavyweight, and Paul Dickinson, third place intermediate 140 pound. The tournament, sponsored annually by the Association for the Promo tion of Wrestling in South Jersey, drew more than 450 participants from 21 teams throughout South Jersey. The Recreation Depart \ment team consisted of 10 young men who have been training over the past four months. Each wrestler fits into one of four categories: bantan — 8 years and under; midget 9 and 10 years old. junior — 11 and 12 years old and intermediate — 13 and 14 years old. Each age group, is then broken down into weight categories to insure fair matchings The coaches for the team this season including Gregg Arnold, Bob Vitola, Jerry Licata and Steve Bianco.

The deciding game of the match had the spectators sitting on the edge of their seats chewing their fingernails and Roth’s appeared to be taking the game with no effort. Needlcrs were down 12-2, but caught up quickly and the game remained deadlocked 14-14 for more than five minutes. Then the supreme playing ability of Margaret Hand, Sue McKee, Marlene Mediuch and IvOiraine Holt won out as Roth's took the game 16- 14. The consolation game between Kona Sports and Guarantee Bank was taken easily by Kona Sports, which beat Guarantee 1,2,3. Dee Sciarra, Denise Zimmer and Sandy Denham were instrumental in Kona's victory, which earned third place. Spring Rec Start Set CAPE MAY - The City Spring Recreation programs are scheduled to begin Monday. March 21. Pre-registration will be conducted in the Convention Hall Civic Affairs Of lice 9 a m.-4 p.m Monday. March 14 through Friday. March 18. The spring classes will provide opportunities to become certified in CPR. Multi-Media First Aid. Lifesaving. ScUba or Basic Rescue. Those interested can learn the art of Karate or Yoga, or get into shape for the bikini season with exercise classes or swimming programs. Campers in 1st Place CAPE MAY - Roth’s Candyland plotted against the Slammers to win their men’s volleyball match 15-8 & 15-9 behind the scheming of Tom Roth, Stu Cohen and Jim McKinley. Whippoorwill Cam pground, still in first place, stole a close match from Gloria's Saloon that Gloria's fought hard to hold onto. Gret Schultz and Robby Janson were great on the net for Whippoorwill. TUCKAHOE - While it is still winter, the Upper Township Recreation Committee is planning an extensive summer relation program for residents of the township, including an enlarged baseball program for youngsters. "We are looking are baseball coaches for our three active leagues", Joanne Tropeano of the Recreation Committee said "The Township sponsors teams for a Pee Wee
league, a Minor league, a Minor League and the Little League, and to insure the silccess of the program we need a number of coaches and assistant coaches for the teams."
