PIC Offers Secretarial Skills Training Program
Hentges Volunteers
Cape May County's Private Industry Council (PIC) is offering a secretarial skills training program for 20 low-income residents. Enrollees must be economically disadvantaged, unemployed or underemployed, read and: spell at a minimum 10thgrade level, and be able to type at least 25 words per minute Applicants should contact PIC at 806-0975. The PIC Council approved the $65,154 project last week. Classes will run from March 28 to July 1 and will be conducted by the county Vocational Schools. STUDENTS will be paid *3.35 an hour while atten ding classes for 30 hours a week for 13 weeks Cost would total $26,130 PIC will pay $28,604 for salary and fringe benefits for one full-time instructor, one part-time instructor, a part-time CETA (Com prehensive Employment and Training Act) coordinator, part-time secretary and other ad minislrative. placement and counseling costs~ Classes will be held at the Vocational Technical Center at Crest Haven The project's budget includes $2,000 for trainee travel

The projection includes $6,400 to pay employers $2 an hour for four. 40-hour-weeks of on-the-job training The PIC Council also approved an $18,900 project to train eight people to become electronics and TV cable installers and technicians. GROUP W. CABLE TV of Wildwood will be paid $4,288 for four weeks of classroom training and $11,520 for half of the $4.50-per hour pay the technical trainees will receive during 80 days of on-the-job training. PIC also settled a two month old transportation problem that delayed ap proval of a'project to train handicapped persons to work in Atlantic City
