First Savings Money Market Return

First Savings & Loan Assn of S96 Isle City is offering. by a few cents, the highest return for insured money market savings accounts in Cape May County. according to a survey this newspaper conducted last week First Savings was paying 8 756 percent based on its formula of matching Ibe 91 day Treasury Bill rate plus one-half of 1 percent One other savings institution. Anchor Savings & Loan, pays the same rate based on the same formula, but First Savings compounds interest daily and Anchor compounds monthly That could amount to a couple dollars difference over a year, according to how much one invests First Savings and Anchor also both paid last week 7 756 percent on the socalled "Super Now" . accounts The money market has a maximum of six transac lions, three of them checks, the "Super Now" has unlimited checking This newspaper's survey of 15 county financial institutions found the new insured money-market ac counts paying from 7 71

percent to the aforementioned 8.756 and SuperNows paying from 6.5 per cent to the aforementioned 7.756. All the institutions change their rates weekly, most of them on Tuesday, and report their average interest rate in monthly statements.
