Either Get A Shovel Or More Insurance
The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce has an answer — sort of — to its question on who’s liable if pedestrians are hurt on improperly maintained sidewalks. The question arose at the directors’ February meeting after a state Supreme Court ruling said proper owners must try to remove snow and ice. Chamber members wohdfcred about absentee property owners in shore communities who are far away during the winter The chamber wrote Supreme Court Judge Sidney Schreiber who responded by sending
pages of legal rulings and suggesting the chamber ask its lawyer to interpret them Chamber directors at their meeting last Thursday showed no interest in going to that expense. "A good attorney will use that (court) ruling.” advised Ernest Yarborough, president of the Avalon Chamber of Commerce. “Whether the property owner is in Alaska or in Mars, he'll get sued and he’ll lose ‘ Buy more insurance," summed up Yarborough. He’s also vice president of Cape Insurance Center Inc
