South Carolina, led their varsity basketball team to its best record ever. 20 wias and nine losses Playing in the top prep school division, the team went to within one victory of the state championship round. PETER. 15 was Conference MVP last season as a junior varsity player and has a streak of 10 stnlight tournaments in which he was named to the All Tour nament Team or as topma men! CAPE MAY — Kiwanis barely maintained its -perfect record m the Pcewee Basketball League by nipping Atlas 14-13 in ac lion this past' weekend. Mike Chelius led the way for Kiwanis with 8 points followed by Brad Vodges with 4. Tom Johnson chipped in 6 points for a much improved Atlas team. In the second game Casale's exploded in the third and fourth quarters and ran away with the game, defeating Model 30-6. Scott Holden (14 pts ) and Chris Mazurek (8 pts.) supplied the offensive firepower for Casale's while Tom Reid (6 pts.) scored the only points for Model. In Midget basketball action. Atlas put up a valiant effort against' Kiwanis behind the scoring of Brendan Conners (9 pts.i but fell to Kiwanis 37-33 as a result of the fourth quarter scoring of Scott Ridgeway (18 pts.) and Barry Wise (13 pts.) With the score knotted 25-25 at the end of the third quarter Kiwanis outscored Atlas 12-8 in the last quarter to steal the game The second game featured the one-two scoring punch of Rich Lundholm (12 pts.) and David Matthews (12 pts ) as Model blew out Casale's 38-16. Rob Ltindholm led an uninspired Casale's team with 10 points. In the first Junior League game, between Guarantee Bank and Sol Needles, it took three overtime periods to determine the winner, which was Guarantee. 71-69 Brady Bonner had the hot hand for Guarantee, scoring 41 points to lead all scorers. 16 in the fourth quarter. However, Bonner's points were not quite enough as sol Needles outscored Guarantee 12-8 in overtime to steal the win. Campers Champs CAPE MAY — In the con solution match of the Men's Power Volleyball playoffs Gloria's Saloon met Library III to determine the third and fourth place finishers. Gloria's took third place by winning the match three games to one in this best of five series In game one. won by Gloria's 15-8, Rich Ferrantr of Gloria's was the offensive standout Jerry Miller of Library III also set up his spikers well in a losing effort Game two. won by Gloria’s 15-12. featured many spikes by Gloria's Bill Arnold. In game three Library III bounced back to win 15-11 behind the fine play of Jack Gastello. The fourth and final game went to Gloria's 16-14, with John Wilsey of Gloria's serving the ball well. The championship match-up paired Roths Candyland against Whippoorwill Campground, w ith Whippoorwill winning the match 4-1 and the 1983 Championship In game one Roth's got off to a slow start and never rebounded, getting whipped 15-3. In game two Roth's pulled together behind the spokes of Bobby Jackson and downed Whippoorwill 15-7 In game three Whippoor will stormed back behind the spiking of Stick Farrager and the sets of Toifin Lowy as they defeated Roths 15-6. In the final game Whippoorwill took off to a fast lead and never looked back, defeating Roth s 15-3 and taking the Championship
