Shutouts Feature Coed Play

, CAPE MAY - The first coed volleyball match pitted Marine National Bank against Gloria’s Saloon with Gloria's winning 3-0, March 18. In game one. won by Gloria's 15-8. Shelley Ridgeway was overpowering with her overhand serves. Steve Shilling of Marine bumped and served well for his team Game two was a 15-1 blowout featuring Gloria's Caren Forbes' fine play. In the third game Gloria's continue^! it’s dominant play. 15-2. Ed McKinley of Gloria's came up with some impressive spikes and Itarhara Frame's serves were the bright spot in a bleak evening for Marine The second matched paired the Ugly Mug and City of Cape May. with Ug ly Mug blanking the City 3-0. The first match was fairly close, 15-11 Roy Harlle of Ugly Mug has some nice high sets and Bruce Bieber saved many points with timely bumps. In the second game Ugly Mug asserted its dominance and downed the City 15-5. Pam Wilson served well in a losing effort. In the third game the Mug won 15-10 Sue McKea stood out for the Mug IN THE FINAL match Rio Grande Building Materials went up against the Shire. The first game was a lopsided affair with Rio Grande downing the Shire 15-2. Fran Vogel has some exceptional jumps to her setters for Rio Grande In game two the Shire played Rio Grande down to the wire before succumb ing 15-12 John Lenior kept the Shire in the game with his fine play of balls off the net Game three continued the pattern, with the Shire playing well early on and then Rio Grande collecting themselves and taking the game The first match of the evening March 23 pitted

Gloria’s Saloon against the City of Cape May with Gloria’s taking the match two to one. In game one Gloria's bounced the City, 15-5. Game two was much more closely contested, with Gloria’s pulling it our 15-13. Nick Fedrroff of the City kept his team in the game with some fantasic saves. The City pulled the upset of this young season by dow ning Gloria's Saloon 15-10 behind the consistent serving of Jimmy Penn in the third game. The second match featured the Playmates against Rio Grande Building Materials with Rio Grande taking the match two games to one Game one was a hard fought victory for the Playmates 16-14 with Sheila Redpath scoring numerous points with onehand returns. Game two was a complete turnaround in which Rio Grande put together some tough offense behind Frank Vogel as Rio Grande downed the Playmates 15-4. The rubber game of the match was another walkover by Rio Grande, 15-6. C-View Winner In Overtime CAPE MAY - In the third and final game of the Junior Hockey League championship series between C-View and the Volunteer Fire Co., it took C-View’s Todd Schoffler's hat trick to down an upset minded Fire Company team 3-2 in overtime Schoffler had two goals in the first period for C View Ron Nelson and Keith Peterson had goals for the Fire Company in the second period to tie things up at 2-2. The third period featured lough defense, but turned up no goals Schof fler ended things in overtime with his third goal

Streams Shut For Stocking TRENTON - The New Jersey Division of Fish. Game and Wildlife has begun the 1983 pre-season trout stocking program, which will include Dennisvillc Lake, Dennisville Trout fishermen are reminded that the state's trout streams are closed to fishing from midnight. March 20. through 8 a.m. opening day. Saturday. April 9. The closing is to allow for the Division’s Bureau of Freshwater Fisheries to complete stocking of streams, lakes and ponds This year the division plans to stock 168.290 trout prior to opening day STOCKING WILL con tinue in-season for seven consecutive weeks In all. the division anticipates stocking a total of 578.490 trout for the 1983 season, with an average size of 9 7 inches. These wall include brook, brown and rainbow Irout In addition. Round Valley Reservoir in Hunterdon County has been designated a 'Trophy Trout Area." and there is no closed season for brown and rainbow trout Lake trout, however, may only be taken from Jan. I through midnight. Horse Show May 21-22 CLERMONT - The date has been changed this year for the fourth annual horse show sponsored by the Auxiliary of Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital In stead of June, the horse show will be Saturday and Sunday.
