Ijirry Hades, thought the tower at Anglesea looked like just the thing for a seaside cottage. He happily renovated the old lower and garnered much national news and magazine coverage with his novel acquisition. Since used as a rental property, "Philadelphia" magazine featured a novel ad about the property It read In part "Lighthouse 9 Beach Tower. 3 round bedrooms, 2 baths, obser vation deck Month $1,500Season: $4,000 " IF TOM GOLA obtains the GOP nomination and is elected mayor of Philly. he will be the first ex Zaberer’.s Anglesea Inn host to rule the Quaker

brother Allen Miller have hit the jackpot on Delaware BayshofiTBeaches. Walking the mud and sandz at low tike. Pugh, 40. and Miller. 38, have found thousands of stone Implements, ranging from projectile points to large hammerstones. The star of the coition is a fluted Clovis point, conservatively estimated to be 10,000 years old The largest projectile point is a rhyolite broadspear more than five inches long and the smallest a half-inch black point. Along with the stone projectile points there are numerous clay potsherds impressed with cord or net markings, half a slate gorget (a decorative piece thought to have been worn on the chest), stone drills, work stones and part of an Atlantis weight Atlantis were wooden throwing sticks used before the bow and arrow came into use They propelled a long-shafted art. larger than a arrow but smaller v than a spear They had a hook at one end to engage the shaft and a stone
weight to give more balance and leverage The weights have a drilled center hole and often are called bannerstones The brothers' collection also contains non-Indian items such as kaolin (clay) pipes from early settlers Pugh found about a thou sand points during his best year The most he ever found at one point was a cache of 47 scattered in the sand in one spot Some untreated pieces have been worn smooth by wave action, while others appear to have been wash ed out of the sands only recently and still retain their original crisp, sharp outlines. The artifacts represent a lime range spanning from in.ooo to 500 years ago Most of the stone items are manufactured from jasper pebbles found locally Others are of native quartz of Cohansey quartzite aud some are of shyohte or other materials brought here from out of the area Pugh and Miller arc only two of many area residents who regularly search the hayshore year round for Indian artifacts The items show up on the surface only periodically, after weather conditions have uncovered f them, hut these remnants ‘ of earlier civilizations probably will continue to ap pear as the shoreline continues to erode If Cape May diamonds, shells and Indian artifacts don't interest you. you might keep an eye peeled for the occasional gold or silver coin from a shipwreck that washes ashore Ci H A N I) E ’ S BARTENDER Mike James has acquired a Cape May property, so now he’s the proud owner of three Jersey Cape area real estate holdings Ex-Miami Dolphin footballer Bob Petrillo, co-owner of Grande's is a lookalikc for signer E^die Rabbit
