Cancer Crusade Going On RIO GRANDE - The County's Crusade Chairmen, Irv and Ginny Posternok, are urging everyone to support the American Cancer Society during its Crusade thus month The County Unit will host its annual telethon on Channel 40 WAAT noonmidnight Saturday. April 16 The public is encourag ed to call in or come in and present pledges at the studio or Avalon's Cominunity Hall - Throughout the month in various municipalities, volunteers will be visiting their neighbors to collect contributions and to hand out what could be the most important test any of us has ever taken The self administered test is design ed to help each of us deter mine if we have a higher than normal risk ot developing certain kinds of cancer ONCE WE know this, we will be more aware of possible symptoms of cancer and more apt to participate in the American Cancer Society's free cancer screenings Few, if any, of us can say we haven't been touched in some way by cancer Each of us knows someone — a friend, a relative, a coworker — who is fighting cancer Thanks to advances in cancer research, more and more of us know people who have beaten the disease HALF OF those who get cancer could and should be saved Your American Cancer Society's im mediate goal is to save 220.00(1 lives half of those who will die of cancer in 1983 The county Crusade goal is $90,000 I^ast year, the Society supported research in New Jersey's mstitu turns ACS Unit Volunteers conducts free educational programs in schools and at service clubs, including cancer screening clinics and stop smoking workshops

CHARTING TELETHON — Mr and Mrs. Irv Posternock. 1983 Cancer Crusade chairmen standing, and Charles (Chuck) Guhr, telethon chairman, work on charts scheduling talent for county unit. American Cancer Society Telethon on Channel 40 TV noon-midnight April 16.
