Ostrander Assails Unneeded City Jobs

WiLdWOOD - Earl B Ostrander, candidate for mayor in the municipal election May 10, has indicated his willingness to debate his opponent and charged that "as many as 50 people, at salaries ranging from $3,000 to $25,000," are on the city payroll in jobs that could be eliminated or performed by other employes. In a series of press releases. Ostrander also. DEPLORED THAT only 2,000 of 2,900 registered voters turned out in the 1960 commission election, and only 1,800 in 1982, when the charter change was approved Said he has directed his legal counsel to research the administrative codes of other municipalities to aid in setting up the code under which the new mayor and council government will operate PLEDGED TO set up a special plainclothes alcoholic beverage squad to work with the city's bars and restaurants in solving the problem of disorderliness on the streets in the evening hours. Also pledged a special plainclothes squad apart from the police department to ensure that the “few unscrupulous boardwalk merchants" are prevented from “ripping off" tourists. CALLED FOR redesign mg the city’s restrooms to

accommodate disabled or wheelchair tourists, and said he'll ask boardwalk merchants to open their stores at Easter and close only when the last conventions and senior citizen cavalcades have left. Anhounced that Raymond A. Batten, an attorney with law offices in Avalon, has been added to his legal team. His legal advisors now include attorney Anthony Fulginiti and the law offices of Har* riman and Webb.
