Armacost Feted On Retirement

AVALON - The Whitebrier Inn was the scene of a testimonial din ner in honor of Mayor Ellsworth Armacost as he retired after I7 years of service with the borough The last Id of those years he served as mayor Borough Administrator Andrew Bcdnarek and Councilman James Busha shared lhe honors as Masters of Ceremonies and County Treasurer Philip Matalueei was the guest speaker MATAU ( Cl NOTED the mayor's outstanding dedication, service and love for the bdrough It was also noted thal both the mayor and his w ife Marion served the borough jointly when Marion was alive, as the "First Couple" of the borough Upon Mrs. Armacost s death, the borough renam ed the 74th Street Park “Marion P Armacost Park" and several trees will be planted in the mayor's honor by various civic groups A flag and flag pole will lx- erected by the borough near the Marion Armacost fountain 'ARMACOST. IN his remarks, noted all those present and many people he has served and been associated with during his years as a commissioner and mayor He and others

recalled the many times he was seen riding a tractor while helping' clean the beaches, riding through town to pickup trash thal had blown into the street, or in general checking on “his" town, before the Public Works people started their day Because of the mayor's particular interest and association with the Public Works Department the new Public Works Department building will have a cor nerstone plaque dedicating the building in his honor Joining in the celebration were his daughters.
