Yarborough Tells Noise Curb Plan

AVALON - Saying that "in the past, lip service has been given to noise problems". Ernest Yarborough, candidate for mayor, has outlined a sixpoint program designed to counter noise problems created primarily by group rentals Yarborough's program, based on aggressive enforcement of existing laws, includes: Requiring realtors to file the names of rentors with

the Borough Clerk. Increasing the fines for disturbing the peace to a level that would discourage furthef violations. Requiring that all rentors be provided with copies of the ordinance related to disturbing the peace, with the fines clearly delineated, and posting a copy of the regulation in the rented premises. Providing that all rentors sign a form that they have

Bob Wilson, program chairman, announced that the Chamber will be honoring the oldest organization in the community when it pays tribute to the 70-year-old Women's Civic Club THE WOMEN’S Civic Club was incorporated in 1913, one year before the borough was incorporated, and plans a series of fetes during the summer to promote its 70th anniversary Wilson plans to have tributes made to the Women's Club from Mayor

and Council along with mementoes from other civic ^organizations in the community, vfith a plaque from the Chamber and a little nostalgia from Jack Fitzpatrick and Glenn Townley This year s Civic Club programs will also be announced. To complete the evening's celebration the Chamber will again honor the Senior Citizen of the year, an honor which they have presented for the past

IF HIS PROGRAM doesn’t work, Yarborough said, he will see that whatever necessary regulations and fees are instituted to solve the problem. . He feels, however, he said, that it makes more sense to combat the source of the problem, the renter. and not the property owner, as a first step in solving the problem
