-AVALON — Jane Ann Pearson Cunningham, founding editor-published of the Cape May County Herald, died Saturday. April 30, after a lengthy illness. She was editor-ajblisher from 1967 through* early 1979 and was best^tnown for her inspiration editorials and book reviews. She continued as a regular contributor. Her last column, written from her vacation home on St. John in the Virgin Islands, was published March 9. Mrs. Cunningham. 57. was born in Pittsburg, Pa She lived in Ardmore, Pa , for many years prior to moving to Avalon in 1968 She had a active life and

was involved in many business and civic activities. She was a graduate of Temple University School of Nursing. She was co-author of ‘‘The Cape May County Story” a book which discussed the history of the towns of Cape May County In 1974 she was listed in Who's Who of American Women. Mrs Cunningham's com munity activities included membership on the Avalon Planning Board and Environmental Commission as well as a former Trustee of the Avalon Chamber of Commerce She was also a member uf the Avalon Book Club, Cape May County Historical Society

and a former president of the Temple University Nurses Alumni Association. Surviving are her husband, Dr John Cunningham, and four children; Cathryn Maloney of Lancaster. Pa.; Dr J. David Cunningham of Drexel Hill, Pa.; Elizabeth ar.d Craig Cunningham of Avalon; two grandchildren and two brothers. Nathan Pearson of Maryland and John Pearson of New York Funeral services will be today, held at St Mary's Episcopal Church, Stone Harbor, May 4, at 11 a.m Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
