COURT HOUSE - The county’s Ninth Annual Senior Citizens Art Contest and Exhibition will take ^ place at the County Library. Mechanic St.. 9 a m.-4 p.m. Thursday. June 9. It is sponsored by the County Office on Aging, in conjunction with the New Jersey Division on Aging. Any person who is 60 years of age or older and a county resident is encouraged to participate The contest and exhibition are open to nonprofessional as well as pro fessional painters, sketchcrs and graphic illustrators. Novices with limited experience are urged to submit examples of their work. THE JUDGING of the non-professional and professional entries will begin at 1 o'clock. Three winners will be selected from each category and these will become eligible to enter the New Jersey Senior Citizens Annual Juried Contest at the State Museum in Trenton in August, along with entrants from other counties throughout the state. This year’s exhibit has been expanded to include a special showing of freestanding sculpture and wood-carving Sculptors
and woodcarvers, as well as artists, may obtain the required entry blanks for Senior Citizens Art Exhibit at the Office on Aging, in the Social Services building. Route 9, Rio Grande or, at one of the four County Senior Centers j All entry forpis should be completed and returned to the Office on Aging prior to June 3. Further informa lion may be obtained by phoning the contest co ordinator, Roberta Brown, at 886-9623, between 8:30 a m. and 4:30 p.m Library Shows Vet Act Work COURT HOUSE - A showing of .works by veteran artists, photographers and sculptors, sponsored by the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Civic Council in coordination with the Viet nam Veterans Memorial Committee, is underway at the County Library The exhibit, which began Saturday, will run through May 31. It is being conducted in conjunction with the,Memorial Day celebra tion.
