Ugly Mug Loses One
CAPE MAY - Coed volleyball action May 6 opened with the Playmates taking on a powerfull Ugly • Mug team. The first game was forfeited by Ugly Mug. In the second game the Mug got off to a fast start and blew out the Playmates 15-3 behind the fine all-around play of Hoy llartlr. The final game was much like that preceding it as the Mug defeated the Playmates 15-5. The second match-up was between two of the better teams in the league, Rio Grande Building Supply and Gloria's Saloon. The first game went to Gloria’s 15-7 behind thd serving and spiking of Rich Khinesmith. The second game was somewhat closer Softball Loop CAPE MAY - The city is now organizing its 1983 Women's Softball League. The League will start June 16 and the League fee is $180, which is due by June 10 along with a team roster. For further information contact the Department of Civic Affairs, 884-8411 ext. 20 or 27. Crusader Grad At Stockton POMONA, - Ellen Hlggins, Wildwood Crest, was a third baseman/outfielder on the Stockton State College women's softball team this past year. The Wildwood Catholic High School graduate contributed an RBI in the Ospreys’ victory over Rutgers-Newark, 10-2. Stockton, a Division III college, competes in the Jersey Athletic Conference.

The final game was the most exciting of. the three as Rio Grande constantly battled to avert a shutout. It came up short, however, as Gloria’s took the game 15-12. The final pairing pitted Marine National Bank against Shelter Skelter with Marine sweeping all three games. Marine won the first game 15-6 behind the fine play of Debbie Coleman. The second game was much like the first with Marine defeating Shelter Skelter 15-7. In the final game Marine downed Shelter Skelter 15-12. Nets Dunk Brigantine CAPE MAY - The Cape May Nets clinched their third straight division championship in the South Shore Soccer league (under 14 years-old) with a 5-2 triumph over Brigantine. The Nets upped their record to 7-0.

CAPE MAY — Powerful Gloria's Saloon was pitted against a game, but overmatched Shelter Skelter team in the first coed volleyball match-up of the evening May 11. Gloria's swept all three games 15-7, 15-4, 15-9 Debbie Brett and Shelley Ridgeway both played well for the victors. Gail Geiger and Derek Dorsey played well in a los ing cause. In the second pairing league leading Ugly Mug went up against Marine National Bank. Ugly Mug swept the first two games with relative ease, the scores being 15-4, 15-9. However. Marine collected themselves in the final game trying to avoid a
shutout. Their efforts were in vain, however, as the Ugly Mug pulled it out 18-16 in the most exciting match of the evening. In action May 13, (he Playmates, a much im proved team, went up against the Shire and won two out of three games In the initial game the Playmates, behind fine team play, downed the Shire 13-9. The second game was much closer going down to the wire before the Shire put together some timely offensive and strong defense to down the Playmates 15-13. In the final game the Playmates bounced back to take the game 15-9 and the match two games to one.
