By MARK MATTERN No one was surprised when Ocean City dominated two track meets last involving Cape May County schools The Red Raiders won by over- 60 points at the county meet with Jonathon Dice taking the only double. Mike Stokley (shot put) and Rob Perry (400 hurdles) set new standards during the contest Distance runner Paul Koch of Wildwood Catholic and Tim Saddle of Middle Township, a sprinter, each took home two golds. At the Cape Atlantic II Relays, the team from O.C did not let up. They collected seven firsts and a total of 104 points Alsorans included Lower Cape May with 66. Wildwood with 2:1. Middle at 8 points and Wildwood Catholic with just 6 points

I'll pay 20 bucks to see Moses Malone and Dr .1 do their thing before I’ll cough up 20 bills to see ole Blue Eyes do his. Sports fans just listen to a different song. It's all a matter of supply and demand There is only one Moses Malone in this world and only one Frankie Baby The very best deserves the lop dollar I think most people just can’t rationalizemen being paid big bucks for something that is so much fun to do. I’m sure Robert Redford has some fun mak ing movies. It's entertainment

WITH JUST THREE games remaining on the Boy’s Baseball League schedule, St Joseph clinch ed the title for the Cape Atlantic's division II The Wildcats had a 5-1 victory over Sacred Heart. In other action. Bill Osborn continued to rip league pitching in leading Wildwood to two wins last week. In a victory over Pleasantville, Osborn drill ed a home run to back four innings of no-hit relief from pitcher Ed Koehler. Jim Steiger also contributed with a three-run triple With hopes set on second place in Division II, Hammonton and Lower Cape May hooked up in an 11-inning battle. After one inning in Erma, the score was tied at 3-3 Going into the llth it was just 4-all Blue Devil Alan Chicatiello and Caper Dan Brown pitched the marathon which Hammonton won 5-4 on a Mike Cook RBI single Lower's Phil Boyd, hitting well over .400, went 3 for 3 Error-plagued Wildwood Catholic lost 8-4 to Ocean City. The Crusaders committed eight miscues in the loss. Roy Tindall gave up just nine hits in two games as Middle Township rolled to two wins. Leadoff hitter Tim Champion continued to hit from the top spot in the batting order. IT'S STILL the same old story in girl’s softball. Billy Smith, the greatest performance by a goalie in the Stanley Cup Finals’ 7 Edmonton has scored more.goals than any other N H L. club in history. Conn Smythe would have to be proud of Smith’s net minding. National League winners Montreal in the East and Atlanta in the West Sorry Phillies Phans. Steve Carlton can’t pitch every

Trivia Time: Who was the only pitcher to strike out four batters in one inning of his first major league game. Answer, Pete Rickert for L.A., April 12. 1962. John Roseboro dropped the third strike on the second batter that inning. ARE PROFESSIONAL athletes paid too much? I say “No.” Many folks forget that pro sports is entertamment and people pay good money these days to be entertained. If Robert Redford or Frank Sinatra make a couple of million a year to perform, no one complains. But when a man or woman plays a kid’s game, then for some reason it’s wrong.
