Peace Sabbath Coming
SEA ISLE CITY - The Jersey Cape Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament, County Chapter, is promoting Peace with Justice Week May 22-30 and Peace Sabbath, May 28-29. The coalition, at its last meeting, voted to ask all area churches to participate in Peace Sabbath by having a moment of silence during services to pray for God’s guidance for a halt to the production and
proliferation of nuclear weapons. AT ITS meeting May 11, the group elected Marilyn Ciccarone of Ocean View coordinator; Shirley Lock, West Cape May. assistant coordinator; John Kerman, Lower Township, treasurer, and Myra Kerman, Cape May, secretary. Joanne Newell of Seaville was appointed publicity chairperson. The coalition furthered
plans for the Hiroshima Day March and Rally Saturday, Aug. 6, in Ocean City. It is looking for interested artists and musicians to help with posters, banners, and entertainment. Campaigning By Numbers UPPER TWP - The Republican Action Team in the municipal committee election has given completion of numbering houses in the township as a priority in its plan for post-election action. Candidate Jack McDonough pointed out the importance of such numbers to emergency workers, and said that "there are still serious voids that could be dangerous” The team, which includes McDonough. George Doerr and Milton Wood, also offered a solution to the problem of "Sunday trash”. The team suggestedUhat dump^lers be placed, in strategic locations arbhnd the township to accomodate those who wish to dispose of trash on weekends after the township landfill is closed June 30. The team also feels that a township resident should be named to the county MUA. since the MUA landfill is located in the township
