rather slick production on the single-’ SJippinK Away. Have Edmund* seems ti» t** on the verge of having h«s second major Americatt^hit It's a fine |M>p track wh^a good solid performance from Kdfnuftds The rest of the new Ed murids', long pfayer Inf nr mutiqn i.Columbia’ is more of what we ve come to ex p»*ct from this talented man llis music varies tn-t wH*n hard dnvm . sparse sounding rockabilly to emotional country music to Mersey beat l)ave Ed munds might nut la* a great
vocalist, but he’s got the knack for consistently com ing up with a pleasing sound Information is yet another mast have album from Dave Edmunds and it s certainly nice for him to finally find the elusive follow up to "I Hear You Knocking ' The first Dcxys.Midnight Runners album didn't leave much of an impreS sion on American record buyers It was a promising
start but certainly didn't live up to its advance hype However, Too Rye Ay <Mercury> is a huge sue cess in the States and deservedly so KEVIN ROWLAND possesses an extremely soulful voice that perfectly fits Dexys’ unique blend of RAH and European folk music Not one weak cut here and the hit "Come on Eileen” is sure to tie one of the finest singles of '83 I

Weekend Focuses on Berries
can hardly wait to hear what Dexy* Midnight Runners come up with next The Red Rockers' debut was a fine, hard driving record, but, with few exceptions, Good A* Gold (Columbia) doesn't have as much intensity The Red Rockers have tried to give their music more depth, but this has also meant less drive in their sound. Still, "China" is a track that deserves to be heard and a few others cut loose with the type of excitement The Red Rockers showed on their first album they’re capable of providing A Childs Adventure i Island * is another collection of tales of painful rela tionships sung in a mourn ful voice by Marianne Faithful This might not he her strongest effort, but one has to be impressed with her new-found con sistency as an artist In the Sixties, Marianne made some pleasant singles but terrible albums and now in the Eighties she's showing depth not only as a per former but as a writer, too This is a solid album Bt-nefil Set
