Naming the building after a child is also a Victorian tradition, said Larry. He added that Alexandra was Queen Victoria's first name. The hard work and love of what’s Victorian has become a way of life for the Muentz family.

Last season, Larry said, he had time for 45 minutes on the beach; the year before, two hours. This year, they’ve decided to close the Inn on Tuesdays in order to “catch up,” on the work, not on the sun. The idea of lost hours relaxing on the beach, enjoying the bonuses of the town they love, doesn’t seem to faze the Muentzs. They take a careful seat on the 150-year-old sofa, pour coffee out of an antique silver pot and cheer the 20th century world with 19th century succinctness: "This is our life."
