BBB Seeks Volunteers
COLLINGSWOOD - The Better Business Bureau of South Jersey is expanding its pool of community ar bitrators who will be train ed to hold hearings and make final decisions In consumer-business disputes The BBB conducts an arbitration, pro gram, in which a customer and a business may settle a dispute by taking II lief ore a community volunteer, who holds an informal hearing and then makes a final, legally binding decision on the dispute "The credibility of this entire program," said Jerome K Miller. BB president, "depends on drawing volunteers from all segments of the community We want public spirited people who can make equitable decisions No special background is necessary " THE BBB Arbitration Program is provided at no cost to consumers. An ar bitrator s decision is final and binding on all parties, and the arbitrator serves without pay "Our cases include all kinds of marketplace disputes, ranging from home improvements to auto repair However, our arbitrators do not have to have technical expertise — the BB maintains a special pool of volunteer technical advisors who are available to provide assistance when needed."
