Health Dept. Tells Preventive Care

PREXY — Dr. Shah M. Chaudhry. president of the County Medical Society, recently attended the an nual meeting of the Medical Society of New Jersey in Atlantic City, where he served bn the reference committee. Dr. Chaudhry Is chief of the urology department at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital and senior urologist at Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point.

COURT HOUSE - The County Health Department has issued a reminder of its services to residents, including a w'lde range of preventive health care. These services, according to Andrew' W. Melchiorre, health educator, include: Cancer Detection Clinic, under the medical direction of Dr. Irving Braverman, noon-2 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month at the County Health Dept. The Child Health Conference provides physical examinations, screenings and immunization for preschool children. The conference, staffed by a physician and nurse, also provides related child care and nutritional counseling for parents. It is held at the Health Dept 8:30 p.m noon every Tuesday, Woodbine residents can attend the Child Health Conference at the Woodbine Community Center. Monroe and Longfellow Aves., 8:45 a m. the second Tuesday of each month

WIC (Woman, Infants and Children) is a food program for pregnant and breast feeding women and children under 5 who meet the eligibility requirements. Women and children will be screened through the Department s Child Health Conference. Blood Pressure Screening and Diabetes Education Ginics are held: 1-4 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the West Cape May Borough Hall; 7-8 p.m. the fourth Monday at the Health Dept.; 1-2:30 p.m. the second Thursday at the American Legion Hall, Ocean City. Also, 10 am noon Wednesday at the Wildwood Medical Center; 10:30 a m.-noon the third Monday at the Millman Senior Center Villas; 10 a m.-11:30 a m the third day of each month in Whitesboro. A free and confidential venereal disease clinic at the Health Center. 5-0:30 p.m Wednesdays Physical Therapy operates Monday through Friday, serving patients of all ages with disabilities ranging from strokes to arthritis Speech Therapy is provided for language and hearing disorders The Nursing Division functions as a Home Health Agency providing care to home bound patients under the written orders of a referring physician People who need information or help with problems concerning food handling, housing regulations, rabies or rodent control should contact the En vironmental Health Division of the Health Dept., Crest Haven Rd and Garden State Parkway.
