Mews Notes from The Cape Mays • Dolly Stango

The Cape May Police Department is the finest' Comparing the City Police Force to even that of one of the largest cities (and I come from one of them) the service rendered by Cape May Police is tops! Just recently I was there when a terrible blast occurred as a result of some excessive holiday celebrating. Not only was the noise offensive, but it happened at approximate ly 1 a m. One of the police patrols also heard the blast and two officers, John W. Buhner and Richard Coulter, responded Their presence helped calm my nerves as the accident was in front of my home. We salute you. Officers Buhner and Coulter, for your quick action and most of all for your dedication. All I could think of afterwards was how these men put their lives “on the line" in the call to duty It wouldn't hurt to thank them a little more often Welcome home, Teresa Banscher after an extended vacation out West. Needless to say. her post in the “Bingo Church Kitchen" anxiously awaits her services and her delicious home-made cakes. Teresa resides in Victorian Towers and is a staunch supporter of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church Best rice pudding is made by Vicky Bundschu of the Jetty Motel Vicky donates her services and pudding every week to the Bingo Snack Counter on Sunday evenings at Our Lady Star of the Sea Another dedicated worker at these Bingo Sunday night games is Rita McTague of Victorian Towers. Rita can add fast, making the chore of selling refr'eshments ever so much easier .and she does it with a smile, too' LAST MAYOR'S Ad visory Committee Meeting for the season ended with an interesting and infor mative discussion by Base ManagerJerry Inderwics, (he's now Administrative Assistant) Jerry's duties are many, including maintenance of all city buildings, all public grounds, street and roads, maintenance of fire equip

ment, motor vehicles, safety programs for the city, insurance investigating for the city, ...(and some I've forgotten). He’s on 24-hour call for the Cify of Cape May. That makes one feel secure and safe knowing there's someone always “watching the store" Steve Peckiconis, Advisory Chairperson, thanked Inderwics for his many explanations to questions asked by the various committee members All in all, everyone agreed it was a fitting finale The committee, which always meets the last Tuesday of each month, will resume Sept. 27. In case you didn't know. Dot Bailey is the Wells Fargo Security guard standing by the Information Booth on the Mall while the Bell Telephone men work down in the manhole putting in another cable. Dot

lives in Del Haven, is married to Bert Bailey, who is a brother to Harry Lozour (Mr. Chamber of Commerce!) and yes, Dot carries a gun too!

Congratulations and all good wishes to Jennifer Elizabeth Inderwies. daughter of Lydia and Jerry Inderwies. on her marriage to Officer Bertram S. Ilalbruner. Both are with the Cape May City Police Department

In memoriam: Joseph Patrick Mayo of Victorian Towers Retired as a sergeant with the Philadelphia Police Department after 22 years, he came to Cape May with his wife, Marie. He was a dedicated member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, and will be sadly missed by so very many.
