Senior Art Exhibition Tomorrow

COURT HOUSE - Senior citizen artists of the county will display examples of their works at the County Library, Mechanic St„ 9-4 p.m. tomorrow, June 9! This is the Ninth Annual Senior Citizens Juried Art Contest and Exhibition sponsored by the County Office on Aging, in conjunction, with the New Jersey Division on Aging. Under the guidelines established by the New Jersey Senior Citizens Annual Juried Art Contest and Exhibition judges Barbara Knipple of Erma and Ray Schultz of Cape May will select three non-pro fessional and three professional winners from among the many paintings, sketches and graphic art In ad dition, two honorable mention ribbons will be awarded in each of the two categories First, second and third place winners in the nonprofessional and professional classes will be eligi ble to enter the state contest and exhibit their art work at the Trenton Museum during the month of August

Seminar on Preserving Heritage

CAPE MAY - The Chalfonte Hotel has been selected as the site of a week long Preservation Today conference sponsored by the University of Maryland School of Architecture. Included among the featured speakers at the June 20-26 seminar are former Maryland Congressman Gilbert Gude, now director of the congressional research service at the Library of Congress and his wife, Jane, a member of the advisory board of Historic Annapolis, Inc and St. Mary s City, MD., Historical Commission. David Fogle, associate professor of architecture at the University of Maryland, and Carolyn Pitts, senior architectural historian, HABS National Park Service are directing the conference HISTORIC preservation issues, including national and local programs, will be among the topics discuss ed. Over a dozen guest speakers have accepted the invitation to participate The program is geared to attract individuals concerned with architecture and historic preservation, owners of historic structures interested in preservation and restoration, and professionals working in historic preservation.
