WILDWOOD - A new program to reach out and touch potential vacationers
GREEN CREEK - Disturbed by the plight of poor county residents, the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Green Creek Fire Company launched its "We Care Program” earlier this year with collections of food, clothing and funds for the area needy On Jufle 25, its members will distribute free clothing to those in need at the firehouse, Bayshore Road, Middle Township, according to Mary Rose, program director.
with a toll-free numbex.is a great success, according to Vic DiSylvester, Chairman
"We found a family we knew had absolutely nothing," she said, noting that, despite its hard times, the family sent $10 to the organization after "We Care" workers delivered necessities to the family home. Although some needy people "are afraid to come forward because of their pride,” she added, program workers urge them to contact "We Care" for help.
of the Wildwood Tourism Development Council. The new free number was started in late April. The results from a little over a month show 4,043 calls have been received to the end of May What seems more like coincidence is that inquires for this period have increased from 10,116 last year to 14,157, or a 4,000 increase, according to DiSylvester "THE TOURISM Council is excited about this new program, and the initial results are extremely rewarding,' 1 said DiSylvester. "In today's world of competition, we have to continually upgrade our approach to servicing potential vaca tioners. People are so accustomed to using 800 numbers that it becomes natural.'’ The toll-free number has been worked into 90 percent of the new I9a3 adver tising campaign. "It will take a little time to establish it in all our advertising and publicity but we have made a great start,” he added. Other projects include the July 4th fireworks and a new brochure for the Wildwoods in cooperation with the combined promotion campaign.
