MARKERS: Time for some fun The Philadelphia Phillies continue to slide in the Na tional League East and you know there are problems. Steve Carlton losing three straight. Just to show how bad things are going. Lefty gave up just one run against Ix>s Angeles, but the Phils could only muster one hit and lost 1-0 Anyone truly get excited watching the Indy 500’’ The Pennsylvania was a complete waste of time with Desputed Testimony scratched and the favorite finishing sixth. TRIVIA ANSWER: Fritz Peterson, in the ninth inn ing of the 1970 classic. Peterson gave up a single
to Willie McCovey and was replaced by Mel Stottlemyre. REMARKS: The Sixers What a team They took care of the World Champion (exworld champs) Los Angeles Lakers in four straight That's only the fourth time in N.B.A. history for a sweep m the finals and the Sixers set a new record, winning 13 out of 14 in the playoffs Maybe they are the best team ever'” .{Vow a few words about the championship senes I know Moses Malone won the most valuable player award, but who really was Philadelphia's most valuable player 9 My vote goes to Bobby Jones I
honestly feel that Jrfncs is the glue that holds this great team together He spells the starter, goes 7 for 8 from the field, record 5 steals, plays great defense and then is forgotten Well One more remark Philadelphia can be proud of their faas. Ix>s Angeles can't The crowd at the Forum, even with all their celebrities, showed no class at all when they shout obscenities protesting a bad call They proved to the nation and other parts of Ule wflrld what jerks they really are Congratulations to the Sixers and all you fans who have been waiting for this the past six years It was worth the wait
