“She’d come around on Saturdays to everybody’s homes,” she added, laughing, “to pick flowers out of their gardens for the chapel service.” IN THE 44 YEARS that the chapel has stood on Clubhouse Drive, four generations have passed through its doors. Agnes Millar’s granddaughter, Marion, was present on Memorial Day weekend services. Her children also attend. It had been four years since Marion had been there, because she now lives in Texas. “It’s special to me since I live away,” she said of the chapel. “It’s been four years since I’ve

been there, but I knew everybody and everybody knew me. It’s also special seeing your own grandcnildren and children picking up and participating.” The Doans tell the same story. Their son, Bruce, and wife, Ineke, were married in the chapel 10 years ago, and they plan to retire in Town Bank. As for the future, they feel sure that Mary Fehr’s dream will continue, as the children of Town Bank return to keep the chapel open, and to remind the summer residents of Elwood Drive that Sunday has come.
