Guard Armory, Creast Haven Road. Cape May Court House, 08210 TRIVIA ANSWER: Jim Gantner ran for Aaron On October 3, 1976. in the Home Run King's last appearance. MARKERS: Time for some fun. The Philadelphia Phillies broke out of their hitting slump last week The reason, Tony Perez and Von hayes got to play every day I think Hayes will become the most produc live hitter in Phillie history. Check back with me in about 10 years The U.S.F.L continues to expand. A big mistake for an infant league The recently run Bel mont Stakes was the most exciting horse race I have

ever seen In a sweeping move, the NBA honored Moses Malone with that league's Most Valuable Player award Dr J, Julius Erv ing. finished a distant se cond Also, a little known award was bestowed on Sixer Bobby Jones for be ing the best sixth man Speaking of basketball, where will Kareem Abdul Jabbar play next season 9 My guess is New York. Chicago or back home m L.A REMARKS: Art Schlicter is back home after completing treatment for a gambling problem, while ex-Phillie Lonnie Smith is off to the farm for a drug problem I feel that both of these great athletes have just about the same problem — an addiction.

Schlicter was suspended indefinitely by the N.F.L., but no league action was taken against Smith My solution to this type of trouble in sports is to have a special committee set up to oversee these matters I like the indefinite suspension idea and any player who is found to have a$ addiction problem

should be kept out of action until this spetial committee is convinced that the player is cured Remember, the integrity of American Sport is at stake here If I^onnie Smith can finish second in the National League's MVP con test and he is on drugs, then it must be all right Get my point"
