Wiley Christie. Adjutant Jim Daniel, Financial Officer Quentin Sternbergh, 1st Vice Comm Robert Wilson and 2nd Vice Comm. Robert llafele arc champing at the bit to revitalize the facility. Under the leadership of Marion Hornsby the Women's Auxiliary is being reactivated, too. There are presently 22 members, but for almost the past ten years their interest in the Post has mainly been confined to the selling of pop-
pies on Memorial Day. At this meeting a new slate officers was elected: Pres Marion Hornsby. V.P. Ruth Eckhardt. Treas Marguerite Klotzbucher, Rec. Sec. Eileen Conner. Corr. Sec. Jane Owings, Sgt. at Arms Ramona Wilson and Chaplain M'Ellen Rowland. Several new members joined that nightfand we were surprised t4 learn that our membership cards entitle us to membership privileges in any other post in the country. It’s an exciting time to join and anyone wishing to is encouraged to get in touch with any of the officers named above. The Stephen C. Ludlam Post has more than a touch of class. Its
newest member is Major General John Stoner — we'll bet not too many poets can boast of having a member who wears two silver stars! Marty and Jim Conlln of 301 84th St. «re on a real high right now. Their son Jeffrey graduated on May 29 with a B.S. degree in Developmental Resources from the University of Rhode Island. Last year he got his Captain's license and worked in that capaci ty aboard the sightseeing vessel Captain Cramer, out of Stone Harbor. He plans to do the same thing this year, taking a well deserved vacation in the Virgin Islands this fall while looking over employment prospects in that area. The Conlins' daughter and son-in-law. Andrea and John Martin, have just bought a new Hobie cat which they'll keep at S.H Point which means they’ll be spending lots of weekends here. As if that

weren’t enough excitement for one family Andrea and John will be celebrating their first wedding anniver sary this weekend and moving into a new home the same day. Evelyn Warren of Avalon was Chairman of this year’s Bridge-o-rama run by the Stone HarborAvalon Branch of the Burdette Tomlin Women's Auxiliary. She awarded the prizes at a luncheon June 9 at the Whitebrier Inn. They were given to 1st place winners in five groups: Group A., Anna Rooth, Emma Fraim, B., Helen Wentzel, Shirley Wiesenbaugh; C., Dorothy German, Evelyn Warren, D., Couples groups, Mr. and Mrs. William Everett, E., Mr. and Mrs. John Raum. Evelyn told me that plans are already underway for next year’s games A new group is being formed for working women to be able to play at night in addition to the regular monthly tournaments. They play rubber bridge, not duplicate or party bridge, in the individual members’ homes The registration date is September and may be made by phoning Mrs. Warren at 967-7264. Tournaments continue October thru May and those entering make a $10 donation to the Auxiliary for the use of the hospital.
We bumped into Adah (Mrs. Dr John) Lindquist of 54 21st St., Avalon, while shopping last week and she had with her daughter Mia and four grandchildren, so we had only a minute to chat. She and John and only a few members of a very large family were just down for the weekend since Adah is getting packed for a cruise in the Greek Isles We are almost too envious to write that but she and the family will be spending the month of August in Avalon and we do so look forward to that!
'ATTRITION take? its toll J Our spouse s hearing was' going and our mind had went He finally went for a test at the Cape May County Hearing Aid Dispensary for a test and the owner, James L. Saad, L.D. quickly allayed any feeling of embarrassment about his disability and fitted him for a hearing aid The center was then located in Rio Grande. That made us both happier for a time but recently his hearing began to worsen. When they moved to their new quarters and had a grand opening on June 9, 10, and 11 our spouse decided to get another test, and this time he was told he needed aids in both ears. Having heard so much about James Saad and his son John, I went in to see the posh new quarters for mvself. The colors were subdued and homey. The personalities of both men was just what I had been led to expect. Saad showed me a new device they are employing, an All-in-the-Canal aid, which is not visible. Our spouse’s life has changed completely, to say nothing of this scribe's. If your wife or husband has been complaining about how many times you say "What?" go in for a test (these are always given free of charge). It could save a perfectly good marriage
