MidAtlantic Stage Opens Tomorrow

CAPE MAY - The city’s first theatre under the stars, the MidAtlantic Stage, introduces its 1983 summer season, which runs tomorrow through Sept. 4 with all perfor mances beginning at 8:30 p.m., on the lawn of the Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. Chairs will be rented, but patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, beach chairs, and blankets to complement the intimate theatrical environment (lounge chairs arc not permitted). The three-show season opens tomorrow with the American musical, THE FANTASTICKS. which is still running in New York

MOLIER S THE LEARNED LADIES is C delightful farce examining the advantages and disadvantages of a frivolous education. The particular question of whether or not women should be educated faces Clitandre with the education of his daughters. He expresses that he "...likes a woman who. though she may know the answers, does not always let it show". Clitandre resolves this conflict with his wife, marries his daughter to her true love and revises some of his chauvinistic opinions dur ing a truly humorous and entertaining evening beginning Aug. 5. ANGEL STREET, the Broadway play which was the basis for the movie GASLIGHT, is a suspensepacked mystery thriller Mrs. Manningham has long been unable to sleep as she doubts her own sanity and wonders about her husband's nightly forays Beginning Aug 12. Rough, the mild-mannered detective. helps us unravel the mystery which seems to be right before our eyes. From Aug 14 through Sept 3 THE LEARNED LADIES and ANGEL STREET will alternate performances almost every evening.
