English-Accented One-tyoman Show
COLD SPRING - The jolly plump lady behind the Saturday afternoon Children's Sho^s from 2 to 4 at Historic Cold Spring Village has come all the way from appearances in I>ondon to perform in the Southern Shore region of New Jersey during July and August. Joyce Reed, now of Wildwood, is a one-woman show with a wide range of talent. Charmed as a child by her actress mother, she now continues the family tradition by passing the fun and fantasy along to future generations. She has per formed with theatrical groups in England, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, but is best known for her monologues and children's shows. I BEGAN to leach children to do what I do. and that caught on so well that suddenly I thought I'd better do a show so that .ill the parents could see what their children were learning,'' This concept grew into a major project with Reed creating scenes, effects, costumes and selecting script material. Eventual ly, her 10-year-old pupils became 20 and she had "young people's shows" to produce and direct Her own children and grown now, so she says, "I have to find new talent. At the Village, where I perform in the Gazebo, my shows depend on the age of the children each day I use hand puppets occasionally but I also try to draw the
