Moped Deadline Sept. 11
TRENTON - Clifford W Snedcker, Director of the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles, has reminded all moped owners that they mast have their motorized bicycles titled, registered and displaying a license plate by Sept. 11 if they want to continue operating them on public roadways. After Sept. 11, police around the state will be directed to ticket the operator of any moped that fails to display a special New Jersey moped license plate. The plates are an offwhite color with blue lettering and say “MOPED” across the top. THE TITLE, registration and license plate requirements became effective on June 13. However, anyone owning or buying a moped before that date was given 90 days to comply with the law "That 90 days ends Sunday. Sept. 11," Snedcker said, "so moped operators only have until Friday, Sept. 9. to meet the requirement, since our agencies are closed on Saturday."
