STONE HARBOR - The U.S. Coast Guard will present three of 32 events during the New Jersey Wings 'n Water Festival, Sept. 17-18 at Stone Harbor and Cape May, The Wctlartds lastitute benefit festival will celebrate the natural attractions of the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Shore. On Saturday, Sept. 17, the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Hornbeam will be open for guided public tours during open house at the Cape May Base 10 a m. to 5 p.m. The 180-foot ship is commanded by Lt. Cmdr. Robert W. Thorne with a peacetime crew of seven officers and 42 enlisted men. An oceangoing buoy tender built in 1944 and reqommissioned in 1977, she sails out of Cape May to service more than 100 buoys and lighted, structures in the Delaware Bay and off the coast of New Jersey. Delaware and Maryland. She is also equipped with a hull for icebreaking. She is armed and performs search and rescue missions as well as law enforcement duties. HER CLAIM to fame is her participation in the rescue of the Andrea Doria survivors in 1971 off of Cape Cod. In 1980, she received another commendation for rescue of the Michelle F. an oil barge grounded off Brigantine. At 2 p.m. Saturday, an Air and Sea Rescue Demonstration will^. be enacted in the water opposite 96th St. in Stone Harbor. A helicopter will fly from the area to the rescue point. Music of the Sea will be performed along with favorites by the U.S. Coast Guard Band in concert at 95th St. and the beach beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday. Other events of the twoday festival include a Decoy and Decorative Bird Carving Show and Sale, a Wildlife and Maritime Art Show and Sale, Guided Nature Walks, a Hummingbird Watch, Hawk

Watch, Sculpture Show Lab Tours at the Institute and a historical exhibit. Open 9 a m.'-to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, the Institute includes a Wetlandia room with living marine animals, a salt marsh trail, observation tower and wildlife/nature book comer. Admission is free to the public. There will be a one-time admission for the two-day benefit festival.
