Just A Short Walk From Anywhere In the Village
LEWES, DEL. - Commerical fishermen found the body of a man, tentatively identified as Howard Tomlin of Lower Township, floating in the Delaware Bay about four miles from here Monday morning. Tomlin, 29, of Indian Avenue. North Cape May, had been missing since last Wednesday night when he left Pierces Point in Middle Township to fish alone from a 12-foot boat. Coast Guardsmen from Cape May began searching for Tomlin Thursday morning. They intensified the search Friday when his borrowed aluminum boat was found capsized near Bug Light, a fishing spot about five miles from Pierces Point. still in affect Monday morning when the body was found. A SPOKESMAN from the Coast Guard Base at Roosevelt Inlet, Del., reported that the commercial fishermen discovered the body around 8:15 a.m. Monday and notified the Coast Guard which transferred the remains to shore. From papers and other clues found in the clothing, the body was tentatively identified as that of Tomlin, Lawrence explained. “As I said, he was not positively identified," Lawrence added' "but, apparently, he had some identification on him.” Positive ■ identification awaited an examination at Nanticokc Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del., and a possible autopsy by Dr. Judith Tobin, medical examiner for Kent and Sussex counties. An investigation by Delaware State Police was also in progress Monday, Tobin said.
