Festival Adds Cape Attractions
STONE HARBOR - Four more elements have been added to the multiple events of the New Jersey Wings ’n Water Festival Sept. 17 and 18. The festival is a benefit for the Wetlands Institute, dedicated to public understanding of and concern for coastal life and environment. The additional historical and natural features are: The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, Cold Spring Village maritime crafts demonstrations, the Cohansick Zoo at Bridgeton and Wheaton Village glass museum and crafts display. The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, situated in North Wildwood, will be open to the public Satur-
day, Sept. 17. The light, which began operation in May 1874, was moved west by 150 ft. after a severe storm in 1914. In 1964, an automatic iron light tower was built at the site and replaced the old light and i(s keeper. BOARDED irp for two decades, the lighthouse was re-opened on a parttime basis this summer through the efforts and donations of concerned citizens led by Mayor Anthony Catanoso and his wife Phyllis. The city of North Wildwood plans to restore the building and expand it to include an art gallery, museum and an information bureau. Historic Cold Spring Village will demonstrate fish v drying, oyster shell
