CAPE MAY - Law’s Printing continues its dominance of National league softball as it swept Quinn s Repair in the open mg round of the play-offs. On Friday. Aug 12. Law’s blanked Quinn’s 8 to 0 with Ted Ferrantc throwing the two-hitter. John Fuller provided three hits while Bflt Cook. Carl Umpsheirl and Mike Hickman chipped in two hits apiece On Monday Law’s again shut out Quinn’s 13 to 0 as Ferrantc again picked up the Win. allowing only four hits Kevin Sherman and ■t'llenn Reagan backed up Ferrante with three hits apiece
Krammer Beverage kept right on the heels of Law’s as it too swept the opening round series against the Coast Guard Bears. On Friday Krammer nipped the .Bears 8 to 6 in a nail-biter. Krammer then wrapped things up on Monday as it destroyed the Bears 16 to 1. " KONA SPORTS and Gloria's Saloon went down to the wire before Gloria’s edged them in the series two games to one. Gloria's started the series off with an impressive 10 to 2 pounding of Kona with Bob Haskins and Gary Mon tgomery leading the way. Kona came right back, however, to even things in
the second game as it downed Gloria's 12 to 9. Gloria's stormed back in game three to defeat Kona 13 to 5. Gary Montgomery was the star of the series for Gloria's as he turned nine double plays in three games and provided key hits with his continued hot bat. Grande’s Bar moved on to the second round of the playoffs as they eliminated Bayshore Lounge in a twogame sweep, 7 to 4 and 5 to 2. ’ In the American League, regular season champion Doc’s Custard breezed through the first round of* the playoffs as they swept
Mayer’s Tavern. On Monday Doc’s pummeled Mayer’s 13 to 2 oehind Art Cannon and Carl Pettit, who collected four hits apiece. On Tuesday Doc’s . again ripped Mayer’S 18 to 7 to take the series. Gary Gueracini collected three hits, including a home run, to lead Doc’s. John McCray and Chuck Dougherty also helped the cause, collecting four hits and three hits respectively. KINDLE FORD pulled a mild upset ity eliminating fourth-placed Rusty Nail in a two-game sweep. On Monday Kindle edged the Rusty Nail 8 to 7 as George Keating led the way. going 4 for 4. Bill Adams helped preserve the win with excellent defensive play at shortstop. On Tuesday Kindle gave itself a little more breathing room as it downed the Nail 9 to 6. Mike MaLaughlin led the charge, going 3 for 3. The Mariner’s put a scare into second-placed Dekelco as it battled down to the wire before bowi^ out in the final game. On Monday Dekelco nipped the Mariner’s 11 to 10 in a hard fought contest. On Tuesday the Mariner’s bounced back to down Dekelco 12 to 6. In the rubber match Dekelco jumped off to a big lead and never looked back as it crushed the Mariner’s 17 to 6. Bob Gerard carried the offense, going 3 for 3. Group Cape May and K & E Contractors battled for three games to determine who would advance to the second round of the playoffs. In game one Group Cape May outslugged K & E to capture a 14 to 11 win. K & E parlayed timely hitting and stiff defense to nip Group Cape May 10 to 9 and even things at l-l. In the final*game Group Cape May put together an awesome offensive display to crush K & E 17 to 3 and take the series ^1\vo games to one.
Snappers Sink Subs
STONE HARBOR - The Yellow Submarine had a chance to clinch the Soccer League championship last Wednesday but the Red Snappers wanted nothing of the sort as they defeated the Submarines 3-2 in a shoot-out. In the second game the Blue Claws won their second game in a row as they beat the Green Heads 4-1. The Blue Claws used scoring from four different players as they controlled the tempo of the game. Steven Whelan, Justin Zackey. Brendon Borek, and Mike McFarlane all tallied goals for the Claws while Chris Fullerton scored the Head’s only goal The Yellow Submarines seemed to have the game wrapped up before a Matt Green shot that slipped through goalie Josh Gartner’s fingers to tie the score 2-2 Shawn McCormack scored the Snappers' other goal in regulation. In the shoot-out the Snappers outscored the Submarines 4-2 as Andrea Breen kicked in the clinching goal

Snappers, Subs Tops Soccer
STONE HARBOR - In Soccer League action recently, the Red Snappers and the Yellow Submarines continued to dominate play and seem to be headed for a showdown to determine the league champion. The Red Snappers controlled the game from the tip-off as they surprisingly shut out the strong Green Heads 4-0. Chris Rice tallied two goals for the Snappers while Matt Greco and Alex Swift added one
The Blue Claws' tough defense held the Yellow Submarines until five minutes left in the game before the Submarines knocked in two goals to carry them to victory 2-0. Joe Kauterman scoared the first goal and Shawn McCormack added an insurance score as the Submarkincs stayed in a tie for first place with their 6-3 record. The Claws have lost five games by two goals or less and are 2-7.

In a free-hitting, highscoring Kiwanis^-softball game, the Court House “Big K” Team beat Cape May by a score of 20-14. For Court House Dan Money and John McVey hit homers and Steve Luteri, Ted Croitor and Dan Money scored four runs each. Keith Maund and Ted Croitor each got four hits.
Steve Luteri, Glen Ortner and John McVey had three hits. For Cape May, Jim Reagan had a home run and two other hits, and Ken Ferrante a double. Ted Johnson was the winning pitcher. A third game will be played at the Country Park in September. It will be a picnic affair.
