carefully carried, .til to listen to the well-planned concerts, the diligent work of Arthur Doran, band concerts coordinator. We af>plaud you. Arthur Doran, for a job well done! • • • Another well-planned gala event in Cape May was the Arts and Crafts and Merchants’ promenade display which went on for two days. It was the best ever, and so many enjoyed looking over all the little booths set up. Some even did part of their Christmas shopping. It was the largest display ever, and the well coordinated efforts of Terry Brown, director of Civic Affairs. Wc look forward next year to the same! • • • It pays to grow your own. Mike Maziarczyk Jr., CVA pharmacist and sometime gardener, this year has grown his own pumpkin! Seeds left over from last year’s large pumpkin served two purposes: first the birds feasted and then the rest went to producing the large pumpkin Mike now has for this year’s Thanksgiving display. • • • NEED A SPECIAL litUe gift ... or even something "extra”? Try the St. Anthony’s Religious Articles Store in the basement of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Entrance is from the front door of the church. Hours are Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wine tastings at the Chalfonte Hotel weekly, but for today, Aug. 31, with wines from all continents. It’s Best to call in or send in your reservation. About the Chalfonte: it’s Cape May’s oldest hotel, built in 1876 by Col. Henry Sawyer, a Civil War hero. Throughout the years, it has preserved its tradition of gracious southern hospitality with an air of Victorian elegance. The series of wine tastings and weekly wine specials take place in the King Edward Room and Dining Room. Judy Bartella and Ann La Due are coordinators extraordinaire It’s called "Cove Oceanside Deck" at 3rd and Beach here in Cape May, and sitting on the deck you see the Cape May Point Lighthouse ever so clearly. The ocean waves make their delightful sounds and the delicious food help make it all a very pleasant outing. Besides, you can sit there in your bathing suit and then just amble on the beach afterwards. Proprietress Nancy Johnston makes sure everyone is pleasantly given good service, and with a smile, too! • • • YOU’VE HEARD of Cinderella, but there’s Cinder-fella, too! He’s none other than Harry Salt of the .Atlas Motor Inn. Restaurant, etc. Harry’s always willing to lend a helping hand; he’s interested in all things, but mainly to help mankind. He has time for that, always!
