Holiday Blood Drive Set

COURT HOUSE - "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is the Red Cross prescription for meeting blood demands of 113 local hospitals over the long Labor Day holiday. "Red Cross is recruiting blood donors to assure an uninterupted supply of blood to local patients in order to prevent the traditional blood shortage which has plagued us during past summers," said Mrs. Ger-/ trude Yesgosh, executive director of the County Chapter. "We are dealing with a big potential problem

whenever we have a long holiday weekend with virtually no blood collections for three days. That means that we must have very successful bloodmobiles immediately before and after Sept. 5 in order to keep pace with blood needs." Red Cross urges all residents to use seat belts, to drive safely this holiday to prevent accidents, to donate a pint of blood for those who will need it. Most healthy adults between the ages of 17 and 65 and weighing at least 110 pounds can safely give blood. The entire process

from registration to refreshments takes one hour. For information and bloodmobile listings, call the Red Cross at 465-7382.
