Hobie Cat Races Late, Successful

STONE HARBOR - Due to heavy seas the Hobie Cat races sponsored by the Stone Harbor Hobie Cat Association were run a week late off the beach at 122nd street. The postponement permitted the running in a great day for sailing with strong south west winds and the first Women’s Invitational Hobie Cat Race comprising seven boats was held. Second place winner was Louisa Grabowski, captain, and Judy Quinn crew; third place winner was Desire Hunter, captain, with Pam Bantley as crew. IN THE MEN'S field double traps were in order for the first two races, with brisk winds. Four races were held in all with each team’s worst race eliminated from the final score. First place Winner was captained by Steve Cronko with Dad Aderbercen as crew; second place went to captain Bob Hunter with crew Debbie Shaw; third place went to Captain Tom Bauer with crew Tod Bauer; fourth place was Captain Mike Beck with crew Mike Smith and final was Captain Monty Tyndall with crew Dobbie Tyndall.
