NEW BRUNSWICK - Walter H Betts of Woodbine has been appointed to the Board of Managers of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station at Rutgers University’s Cook College. His appointment, which runs through June 30,1986, was anhounced by the board of governors of the university. Betts will represent Cape May County on the 21member board of managers, which serves as an advisory group to the director of the Experiment Station. The State Experiment Station is the agricultural and environmental research and extension division of Cook College and the only facility of its
kind in the Garden State. BETTS IS a past president of the State Board of Agriculture, the New Jersey Turfgrass Association and the? Cape May County Board of Agriculture. He hac served as a director of the New Jersey Farm Bureau and of Bridgeton Farm Credit For many years he operated his own 500-acre farm, growing vegetables, field crops and turf sod. Active management of Tuckahoe Turf Farms, Inc. has now been turned over to his sons. Betts has served on a number of agricultural advisory boards in Cape May County. He has been Estell Manor tax assessor and president of the town's Board of Education.
