Youth Drinking Starts Early

COURT HOUSE - In response to reports of a rising rate of alcoholism and problem drinking among youth, the County Council on Alcoholism, affiliated with Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, is prepared to help survey the prevalence of drinking and drinking-related problem behavior among the young people of the county. According to the council, government reports indicate that drinking pat-

terns which lead to drunken driving are being formed as early as the 7fh grade. Alcohol, it is reported, is a factor in 50 percent of all highway fatalities, and an increasing number of these fatalities are juveniles. Anyone involved with youth or any age who would like more information on alcohol and youth are asked to contact the council at Burdette Tomlin, or to call 405-2000, ext. 341. '
