"Maritime New Jersey: the Economic History of the Coast” is a state exhibit featuring local artifacts or collectibles which help illustrate 300 years of coastal living in the : Southern Shore Region,

w of the 17th century the display will feature the lifestyles of Dutch settlers, whalers, fishermen , and farmers and finally , the development of seaside resorts in the 19th century. The exhibit will be on loan for four weeks to the Wetlands Institute from the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, and is cosponsored by the New Jersey Historical
Commission.
A LARGE TENT in front of the Institute's cedar' shake building Saturday, Sept. 17. will feature environmental exhibits by The Nature Conservancy. N.J. Raptor Association. Atlantic Audubon Society. New Jersey Department of Environmental Education, Cape/Atlantic Soil Conservation District, N.J. Dept, of Fish, Game & Wildlife, Burdette Tomlin Auxiliary, Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom television program. An information desk and book comer will be under the big
top also.
Lehigh University will provide lab tours and exhibits both Saturday and Sunday in the Wetlands’ laboratories which will show the depth of the research along the New Jersey coastline. Experiments to detect pollution, sedimentation and fish identification will be
explained.
. Salt marsh safaris will be available all weekend along the trail from the rear of the building past the Osprey’s nest to the saltwater creek. A 7-FOOT observation tower will be open both days to the public, who are invited to bring their own binoculars for raptor and marsh bird watching. The Wetlandia Museum room in the Institute building features small salt and freshwater aquariums as well as shells, bones and bird eggs labeled for identification, microscopes for observation of seaside particles and other interesting displays. The museum room will be open all
weekend

by folklore/folksinger expert Jim Albertson at 1 p.m. at festival headquarters. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be a Scavenger Hunt for children. Beginning at 12:30 Fiddler Crab Races will be held (bring your own fiddler crab) and at 2:30 p.m., a Kite Flying Contest will take place on . the grounds (BYOK). , Oil Sunday, Sept. 18, a Wings Chicken Barbecue will be held in the front yard of the Wetlands Institute from noon to 3 p.m. Admission to the festival will he $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-12. Fashion 1 . • ' Seminar COURT HOUSE - The County Extension Service Home Economics Department, in cooperation with similar programs in Atlantic, Cumberland and Gloucester counties, will present Clotilde Yurick, lecturer and co-author of "Sew Smart with Wovens. Rnifci and Ultra SuedfeFabrics," Wednesday, Sept. 13 The three-hour seminar/demonstration will be held 10 a m-1 p.m at the David C. Wood 4-H Center, Route 50, Egg Harbor.
