Dr. Bob and Klalnr Juni expected to leave on their summer trip to Turkey on Oct I but a phone call from Turkey begging them to join a tour sponsored by the Turkish- American Association, to which they belonged during the years Bob. was serving military duty and Klaine taught there, changed their mirfds and they left Sept I instead. We saw Elaine the day before they left and she was bubbling. They were to fly to Spain and then to Ankara, where they would meet their friends and travel all the way to the Russian border. We were burned up with envy. The night after they left wc learned of the cold-blooded shooting down of the South Korean airliner. We hoped they learned of it too, because no part hf us would have wanted to leave Spain at that point in time . We are hoping for a postcard telling us what they decided. • Andre’w and Matt Woolery have a 50th Wedding Anniversary coming
up this month and two days ago Pat Fitzpatrick drove over with the most 'thoughtful gift we’ve ever seen! It’s a ceramic creche, all white outlined in , real gold. We told Pat how thrilled Matt and Drew are about her gift and asked her how long it had taken her to create it. She responded, “Oh quite a long time and I still have some pieces to add to it.” Seems every piece has to be fired four times. A lot of time and love going into making a present like that. This might be the perfect time to say that the Fitzpatricks, as a couple, Councilman Jack and his pretty wife, Pat, attend and help out in any cause for the betterment of the borough. We just want them to know how much this is appreciated by us all. • • • Freeholder Ralph and Grace Evans of 235 99th St, ( held a really posh dinner party Sept. 4. We told Grace we might be a little late and she said "Not to worry." She had invited a hundred guests and ex-
pected many would still be there when we arrived. What a blast, if you can say that about a formal dinner party. There were many we had just left at the Civic Club Art Show and many we had never previously met. We had never imagined the extent of their garden. The grounds were covered with people sitting at long tables with plenty of room to roam and mingle. Old friend, Fred Wakefield, was creating potables faster than guests could drink them. A five-piece orchestra played constantly — softly during dinner and adding a few decibels for dancing. Even the weather favored the Evans. After a ghastly hot day, a cool breeze sprang up and made the evening perfect.

STONE HARBOR Yacht Club really put the club in the limelight at the Comet International Championship races held Aug. 20-Sept. 2 at Tom’s River Yacht Club, Tom’s River, N.J. THE WOMEN'S Civic Club of Stone Harbor certainly did its part in extending the season over Labor Day weekend. On Saturday, Aug. 6, they held a highly successful and heavily attended Sea Market for the benefit of the building fund and Sunday, Sept, 5, they held their annual Art Show for local artists for the same purpose. Marie (Mrs. Jim) Wood and Vlki (Mrs. Duke) Wear co-chaired the event with lots of assistance from Hilda Mlxsell, Marguerite Klotzbucher, Jean Westhoff, Mary Conwell, Toddy Kelton, Peg Schaffer, Marie Spence, Connie Sands and many, many more. These are gallant gals — most of them were on duty from 8 a m. ’til after 5 when they finally closed the doors. Councilman R. Jack Fitzpatrick announced the winners of the Art Show and "Little Miss" Maureen McNulty gave out the award ribbons. We didn’t hear all the winners' names and are indebted to Al Westhoff for supplying those we missed. The judges were two noted artists of the first rank:

Atwood; Mary Callahan won the painting of gulls and the sea and then came the drawing for the crib quilt with tiny animnals in its pockets which every potential mother or grandmother craved. This was won by Rene Handle of Havertown. Marguerite Klotzbucher had the fun of conveying the good news and said the winner was ecstatic! • • • WE JUST GOT a phone call from Nancy (Mrs.

Linden Lane looked more like a boatless festival of lights on Saturday, Sept. 3. IxjIs and Tom I^es and Elizabeth Figner co-hosted an End-of-Summer Block Party and at least 100 residents, and their guesLs showed up with a surprizing variety of gourmet covered dishes and salads. It afforded them all a chance to chat about summer activities, reminisce about old times and some to meet ahd really talk for the first time. It was a very festive occasion with all the music, food, gaily colored strings of lights and everyone hopes it will become an annual affair.
