Indian Summer Weekend

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City’s first Indian Summer Weekend featuring a downtown block party, ethnic foods, seafood festival, boardwalk sales and other special events will be held Oct. 1 and 2. The Block Party will be held between 10th and 7th Sts. on Asbury Ave., the city’s downtown shopping area, Saturday, Oct. 1. Merchants will present tables of bargains on sidewalks in front of their stores and there will be a crafts show. A new car exhibit and ethnic foods, including a Greek and Polish festival, are also slated. Special features for children are scheduled. BOARDWALK merchants will unveil tablesfull of bargains Saturday as their contribution to the weekend and there will be a seafood festival at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terr., Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, a three-mile "Seniors’ run" is scheduled for 10 a.m., starting at the Pier. This is a special race for competitors over 40 and the entire run will be on the Boardwalk. At 1 p.m., the City will hold a sand sculpting contest on the 10th St. Beach, with prizes awarded in various categories and for families.
