• A rundown of: fish ayflilahle for Jrrsoy C'a'pe anftkrs l*K>ks like a who's who directory of ocean fish»*s The list is so broad it tests the imagination of the angler who can’t make up his mind what kind of fish to fish for Because wean
fish oHen share the same areat.Jhowever, the fish themselves make up the angler's mind One of the excitements of fishing in salt water is that the angler never really knows what kind of fish is going to grab hts line In
fresh water the target is a lot more selective in that some waters hold only a couple of kinds of fisfe. Take for example the rewards available to the bottom fishermen who are plying ocean waters off the inlets and along the
beaches Here are some of the fish you might be catching: sea bass, fluke, porgies,. weakfish. tautog, blucfish, tripgerfish, bonito, albacore, tuna and sharks. Nof all of us are going to catph all of those
kinds of fish every trip, but

the potential is there. That’s why September gets tagged as Smorgasbord fishing month more so than the others. * If you're fishing offshore, trolling for the exotic white and blue marlin, your catch might include either or both, a variety of members of the tuna family, dolphin, wahoo, albacore and bonito. Add a few semi-tropicals such as Spanish mackerel and houndfish, and even in offshore trolling there is an element of surprise Inland waterway catches right now include a few fluke, some weakfish, bluefish, sea bass, occasional sand porgies and some kingfish. And, even crabbers are not above picking up some rarities in their traps. Occasionally, crabbers will land a fluke, sea robin, blowfish, or eel when (hey are really looking for blueclaws. Delaware Bay is also offering variety. Weakfish, fluke and bluefish catches are sweetened with a showing of sea bass. No matter whether it is surf or jetty, boat, pier, or bulkhead, Jersey Cape fall fishing offers plenty of action. Who ik enjoying it most???That 10 per cent of the people who fish who are innovative, who try new tackle, who try new techniques, and who are willing to ask questiohs and admit that they do not know everything about their hobby. Habit fishermen get stuck with a lot of had habits. Fishing techniques
change as does available fish supply. I We've travelled the coast extensively for our fishing. Many areas offer excellent fishing opportunities! None we have found, Florida, offer more tial for a dedicated ai or a casual fisherman t< have more pleasure from his sport at considerably less cost than a lot of places. And, again, if you work at it, you can fish the Jersey Cape year round, fresh and salt water, and short of extremely bad weather, have something to fish for every day. A recent offshore wreck trip on the Starlight out of Wildwood Crest produced coolers filled with sea bass to 4 lb., blackfish to 13 lb. and a scattering of hake and pollock. SHAWN BULFONT of Wildwood was high hook with 80 fish and the pool went to JOHN SZYMANSKI with a 13 lb. blackfish. Starlight Skipper JIM CICCHITTI plans another offshore trip from his slip at Blake's Dock, Wildwood Crest. He’s leaving at 3 a.m. Sept. 18 for offshore wrecks for cod, pollock and blackfish. Call him at 729-7776 for information on the trip and his sailing schedule. Boats are still sailing daily from all of the county ports. Boat Liveries are still open daily. The season has slowed up but it has not ended. Fishing remains as good or better than it has been all season. Crabbing is also at its t>?st. Enjoy it. (Page 57 Please)
