WHAT A MONTH! Hot, cold, some perfect days. A little bit of everything. We're on the last edges of summer now, with September’s official debut scheduled for arrival this Friday, the 23rd. The autumnal equinox will occur at 10:42

-a.m.

Tomorrow night it’ll be time to start singing, ’Shine on Harvest Moon”. TTie full moon closest to the equinox is called the Harvest Moon and seems to rise a bit later than usual for a number of evenings, and as tradition has it, gives the farmers extra time for harvesting before night

falls. • • •

Not too much color in our tree yet, but as autumn starts to take ahold of things, we’ll be observing the changing colors. TTie autumn bird migration is said to be at its height this week, both as to kind and numbers of bids on the wing, over our area.

It’s good time of year to start checking the storm windows for any storage damage, to give windows a good Polishing before the frost bites. Time to order the wood pile, give the fireplace a good cleaning before you start building fires on those nippy evenings. We’re very good about telling other people what to do — but not so good about carrying out those chores ourselves. We’ll get around to it one of these days .... * We’d much prefer to go out and have a good time, so follow us as we pursue having a good time: Catch fresh seafood at the Lobster Loft. Dine on the waterfront, at Sea Isle City’s Lobster Loft Restaurant, the home of fresh seafood. Pick your own lobster from the lobster tank! The Lobster House is located at 318 42nd Street and is a custom-designed spot with a loyal following. While the area boasts one fine dining place after another, we still consider 'Hie Lobster Loft an outstanding rhoice for excellent seafood dining. As September’s days dwindle down, the waterfront location seems t6 be even more refreshing than ever. ■ • • • A NOD TO THE FINEST—GOLDEN INN. There isn’t any place quite as elegant as the Golden Inn, at 78th & Dune Drive, Avalon, a grand setting at any meal. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Golden Inn offers dining, dancing and cocktails weekends in the Main Dining Room where Johnny Arnett, at the grand piano during weekends. The crowd here knows bow to enjoy life and select from a menu worthy of royalty. You’ll feel complimented by the attentive service and the delicious food and beverages.

D'Continental — a savoring place. We often slip over to the D'Canttnental, at Walnut t New Jersey Avenues, North Wildwood when we want to enjoy a fine Chinese dinner. While the D'Cootinental also serves excellent American food, we especially enjoy the Chinese meals in the totally relaxed atmosphere we always find here. TTie Chinese dinners are served 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.; the American meals from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. TTie Early Bird Specials would suit just about anyone - served 5 to 7 p.m. George Gerety entertains Tuesday through Sunday nights.

The Swallows—for exquisite dining. The standout restaurant of the season, The Swallows, at 400 Broadway, Cape May. Now open Thursday through Monday, you’ll be favorably impressed by dining in a legendary mansion. We recently enjoyed a mushroom path, blended of mushrooms, herbs, garlic and walnuts, served with dijon mustard, chosen from the list of appetizers. The house (Page 35 Please)
