involved include Guarantee’s full service banks in Villas and Rio Grande and a “minioffice” in Rio Grande, ac- . cording to Joseph Russo, First Jersey’s assistant vice president 'for corporate communications. That sale includes the offices and deposits totaling approximately $30 million, Russo said. SALE OF THE FOUR BRANCHES is required “as a result of anti-trust considerations in connection with obtaining regulatory approval for First Jersey’s previously announced acquisition of Guarantee...,”. Russo said. . The sale is contingent on regulatory approval and completion of First

Jersey's acquisition of Guarantee, be said. Bank officials have previously suggested the acquistioo and sale of bran cbes won’t take place until early early next year. They also have said no jobs will be lost. First National Bank of Toms River currently has no offices in Cape May County. It is a subsidiary of Statewide Bancorp and has 28 offices and $764 million in assets, Russo said. First Jersey National Bank South is one of four subsidiary banks of First Jersey National Corp. which, as of June 30, had 51 branches and consolidated assets of about $1.5 billion, Russo said.

Alliger’s ‘Ballroom’ Starts 8th Year /

AVALON - A county ‘institution’ celebrated an anniversary when Dick Alliger's “Make Believe Ballroom'’ big band and nostalgia radio program started its eighth year on the local airwaves 8 p.m. Saturday on WWOC, Stereo 94 FM During the many years of broadcasting the big bands, raido veteran Alliger has helped ‘‘bring back the big bands.” “It has been a lot of fun,” Alliger said, “and a most rewarding experience. Since 1976, when I started the program here on the Jersey Cape, I have met and talked with thousands of people about the memories and music of the ‘big band era.’ It's just been fantstic.” JUST AS fantastic as the listener support of the weekly program has been the support of the bandleaders, singers and musicians for Alliger’s Ballroom program. “Lawrence Welk, Paula Kelly of The Modemaires, Ray Anthony, Don Cornell, Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton, the late Harry James and Bob Eberly, AJ Alberts and so many other of the lop stars of the big bands haye gone out of their way to record announcements for the program,” Alliger stated. “These are people who don’t really need the publicity, but take the time to say hello to Cape May County's largest radio listening audience. ‘MAKE BELIEVE Ballroom” is now heard, through syndication on the Big Band Network, on

radio stations all over the eastern part of the country, and stations are joining all the time. In addition to broadcasting, Alliger turned record producer this past year by bringing out a recording of the favorite “O5 The WavTo Cape May” on Dick Alliger's Ballroom records. Alliger noted that the sales of the record were “just great.” Alliger is a long-time resident of Upper Township.
