Club Backs Independent GOP Slate

UPPER TWP. - With the endorsement of the Upper Township Republican Club, Bob Jeffers, and Franklin Sack have launched a campaign for election as independent Republican candidates for three-year terms on the township committee. Jeffers said that he and Sacks offer ‘‘fresh ideas and new blood” for the committee/“We believe in progress, but not at the expense of future hikes in ,taxes.” “The term is fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers,” Sack said. “With proper management. Upper Township can continue .to enjo^ a low tax situation.” In announcing the endorsement of. the Republican Club, George Doerr, its president, said that Jeffers .and Sack “will not be beholden to political bosses on any level of government."

Hughes, 88, of Ocean City, Sept. 28. Formerly of Chatham, he was a World War I Army veteran. William Morgan Jr, 60, of Villas, Sept 24. Formerly of Thorofare, he was retired from the U.S. Navy. David J. Neville, 22, of Town Bank, Ocf 1. Born in Camden, be was a clerk in the Acme Market, Cape May. Randall Peterson, 70, of Avalon, Sept. 30. Formerly of Millville, he was retired. Capt. Fred G. PosUck, (USA retired), 65, of Charleston, S.C., formerly of Avalon, Sept 28. After retiring he taught school in Wildwood, Dennisville and Upper Township. James F. Schroeder, 80, of Avalon, Sept. 26. Born in Philadelphia, he lived here Tor seven years and was retired, William J. Shepler, 56, of Sea Isle City, Sept 29. Formerly of Ocean City, he had been employed by the Whalon Furniture Co.
