Township Taxpayers Association at their monthly meeting la§t week. “The expansion of the FAA in neighboring Atlantic County and the potential selection of the Automated Flight Service Station at either the Millville or Cape May County Airport will assuredly attract more high technology organizations and people to our area. With our amenities of life, our relatively low taxes and labor pool for job training, we can offer an ideal location for many corporations," she said. “However,” she pointed out, “Route 40 from the Delaware Memorial Bridge must be radically improved and Route 55

completed to serve as major access roads lor the eastern corridor between Washington and Boston They are both necessary for our year-round economy and for the accommodation of the increase in tourism." “The funding and completion of these projects should be given top priority since consistently, we are receiving far less return from the state on the. revenues we generate through our tourist and other seasonal industries. We need creative leaders representing us in Trenton, in order to effect progressive growth for Cape May and Cumberland counties," Gorman said.

Bridge Job Snags Flow

NEW CASTLE, DE - Through the month of October, there will be a 24-hour restriction in the westbound lane of 295 at Route 13 on the-approach to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The reason for the restriction is the resurfacing of the bridge overpass at the Farnhurst interchange on Route 295 southbound. Also, two lanes of the Delaware Memorial Bridge going to New Jersey will be restricted through Oct. 10 for resurfacing work. Weather permitting, it is anticipated that all repairs will be completed by Oct. 10. During the length of the restriction,

Salmon: Don’t Dump It Here

MILLVILLE —. Within the near future a regional hazardous waste dump will be sited somewhere in New Jersey, but if State Assembly -Candidate Edward H. Salmon has his way, it won’t be in South Jersey. “To even suggest that a toxic dump site be established in South Jerseyshows a total lack of understanding of our area," said Salmon in a recent statement. “The State is talking about dumping the most, hazardous chemical pollutants known to man in an area of the state that has the most porous soils and the purest groundwater,” he added. Although an independent state commission was named to select a site, several North Jersey legislators have already supported bills that would ban the siting of hazardous waste dumps in the 11 most populated New Jersey counties — almost all of which are in the northern portion of the State. ‘‘North Jersey legislators should not be so quick to remove their populated areas from consideration for a toxic waste dump,'' Salmon said. "After all, residents in North Jersey have public water systems and do not have to worry about groundwater quality in the same way as South Jersey residents," said Salmon.

Bridge Police will be directing traffic, the entire area will be well posted and lighted and flagmen will be on duty.
